Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detected errors in its own communications with the transponder key ECU; 2) the ECM detects errors in the communication lines: or 3) the ECU - ECM communication ID between the transponder key ECU and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted. Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure no engine immobiliser DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the engine immobiliser DTCs first.

  • When the ignition is ON and a communication error or communication line error occurs between the engine ECU (engine control computer) and the ID code box (immobiliser code computer) for 6 seconds.
  • When the ignition is ON and the engine ECU receives a different communication ID for 6 seconds.

(a) Clear the DTC THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

REREGISTER ECU - ECM COMMUNICATION ID

(a) Reregister the ECU - ECM communication ID THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM: REGISTRATION (2008 Sequoia)+ .

CLEAR DTC

CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and the transponder key ECU.

7.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU - ECM)


(a) Disconnect the H32 ECU connector.

(b) Disconnect the A27 ECM connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Temporarily replace the transponder key ECU with a new or normally functioning one THEFT DETERRENT / KEYLESS ENTRY: TRANSPONDER KEY ECU: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia) .
